When teaching, limit features/functions, not the tool set.

For example, teach a notice that a hammer hits things, a screw driver turns things versus teaching the individual how to hit and turn objects with one tool. As the individual advances, they'll learn that the hammer can also pull, bend, break, split, and stab objects; the screw drive can also hit, pry, bend, and stab objects.
